We have only a few classes to go until we introduce our Halloween activities, so we are going to change gears from the Fall Unit, and move into a couple of our child-choice units... the winners are: "Princesses" and "Superheroes."
We are going to take the opportunity to take gender out of the topics and encourage students to imagine themselves as princesses, princes, knights, and superheroes of all kinds! We will talk about being "royal" - kind, using our manners, sharing with our friends, and being "super" - helpful, standing up for our friends!
We have a few different books to read for this unit - Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots?, The Paper Bag Princess, and Superworm. These books emphasize the concepts we are trying to focus on, rather than stereotypical Princess and Superhero books.
We have our first Bingo of the year this Wednesday the 19th! and the preschool is closed on October 21st for PD day.
October 26th we have Clay for Kids coming in to start our Parents Christmas gifts!
October 28thand 31st we will be working on halloween-themed centres and tasks. October 31st we will have a parent party for the last 45 minutes of class - this is not mandatory. Parents are welcome to come in, bring snacks, explore our centres and just visit and play with your child! If you would like to bring a snack, we will have a snack sign up sheet at the sign in table.
Also - it's getting cold out! Please remember to send your child in weather appropriate gear - particularly on Fridays!
